About Us
Resistorings is an Austin-based jewelry company that empowers girls through handcrafted electrical earrings. We use circuit components, such as resistors, capacitors, and diodes, to make dangling, eclectic earrings for curious girls. Our mission is to increase exposure to circuit equipment in a creative, fun, and educational manner. We want to encourage girls to resist engineering stereotypes and overcome the social barriers associated with pursuing an engineering education.

Meet the Founder
The first time, founder of Resistorings, Upasana Prabhu, saw a resistor, she was 18 years old. She knew after working with circuit components (resistors, capacitors, and diodes) that she wanted to pursue an undergraduate education in electrical & computer engineering (ECE).
During her first few semesters in college, she was stunned to find that there were so few females pursuing an ECE degree. In many of her introductory classes of 100 students, she was 1 of 5 girls. She met many women who transferred out of ECE because of the academic and social struggles of the major.
Upasana wants to help break societal engineering stereotypes by introducing girls to basic circuit components, at a very young age. She believes that by making electrical engineering approachable and “girly”, there will be more females pursuing the major.
